Disconnected Apple Watch/Apple Watch app crashes while starting

Since more than a week now, the apple watch app just crashes/closes when starting it (worked before like a charm). As a result the watch is disconnected and runs autonomous.

Resetting either the watch nor the iPhone is an option for me as I need to avoid loosing data!

iPhone XS Max / iOS 14.2 (18B92)

Apple Watch Series 6 A2376 / iOS 7.0.2 (18R402)

Could you please have a look at this immediately as I am not the only one with this problem?!

for me the update to 14.5 public beta solves the problem but i need to repair the watch. 100+ days of data lost 😭 at least i can use the watch again. please make a backup before updating and if you are not sure regarding betas, don’t touch it!

Resetting and restoring from backup works for many but not all. For some of us, the watch app still cannot be deleted (and still crashes) after a reset and restore. I am in this group.

There are also some users who would have security tokens (i.e. VPN) reset which are not restored with a backup.

yeah me too, i'm using iphone II, iOS 14.2 and Apple Watch Series 6. I can't paired again to my iphone, and the app just crashes or unexpectedly close. In Indonesia, the watch not out yet.. so i bought it at singapore and i can't ask to apple store in here. they always said it's because the ios, and wait until new iOS come, but when i already update to new iOS still nothing change and the watch useless noww.. i can't refund or something like that because indonesia don't have official apple store

This is a bug in Apple Watch since launch that Apple has not fixed for 2 months.

Stop telling people to reset their phones. An Apple product specifically built for another Apple product should work and if it doesn’t work it should be fixed without reinstall requirements from the user.

Not everybody wants to spend a weekend on installing 2FA apps from scratch.

Reinstalling is no guarantee that the bug doesn’t happen again because the bug is NOT FIXED.

The solution is that Apple FIXES THE BUG.

true that! i have a 800$ watch with no connection 🙈 more than 8 weeks and nothing heard from apple 😤 the fact that it is not solved in ios 14.3 RC and its not in the release notes as known bug doesn’t make it better 😔 hope they will fix it with the final version of ios 14.3

IphoneX/ios14.2 with apple watch se.. ı bought the watch yesterday and today I face with app crushing problem.. I dont want to restore my iphone either!!!

the watch can only be backuped over the apple watch app. so this is not possible and I would loose all training, sleep and heartratedata from the last 8-9 days!
