So I plugged a USB Drive into my Mac, directly into the back USB ports, but it doesn't show up in Finder.
When I open disk utility, it's there but it's not mounted. And I get an error every time I try to mount it. Anyone have any ideas? I can't figure this out. (error: com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error -119930876.)

Is that exFat drive formatted on Windows? AFAIR there are some allocation unit size options that are not Mac-compatible. FWIW the Windows 10 exFAT default I tested a few weeks ago could be read on Mojave. But to be sure, format as exFAT on a Mac.
I don't know if this helps but select the device (not just the volume under the device) and try to format it as MS-DOS (FAT), Master Boot Record. If that succeeds, then format it as Mac OS Extended (or APFS), GUID.
I bought this drive new from the store, then plugged it into the Mac. I have tried to format as APFS (didn't work) and MacOS Extended (Journaled). Each time it still fails to mount after the reformat.
Here I put it back to ExFAT, but still doesn't mount
