USB C Charging Cables

Do MFi certified cables do anything differently to non MFI cables? I only ask as I've purchased a USB C PD compatible mains socket from Screwfix in the UK to assist with fast charging my iPhone 12. That works fine (really impressed with the charging speeds from it).

What I am finding odd is that when the USB C cable is plugged into the socket but not into a phone, the socket still believes something is plugged in and as a result prevents the USB A port in the socket charging correctly (my garmin vivoactive 3 refuses to charge if a MFi cable is plugged in).

Is it normal behaviour from an MFI cable (I've tried the one which came with my iPhone and an Anker MFI certified cable, both do the same. A standard usb c to usb c cables does not) to keep the socket "active" when the device is disconnected?

iPhone 12, iOS 14

Definitely looks like a socket issue after all that. Found it does the same with a USB c to usb A adaptor I found and is temperamental when charging my ipad from a USB a to lightning cable. Seems to be a definite click in the socket which affects the charging. Hopefully can get an answer from the manufacturer of its normal behaviour before swapping it for another one

I had a similar thought so went over a number of other usb c cables I had. Only the usb c to lightning cables experienced the behaviour described which is why I assumed it was something to do with the mfi.

This is the socket in question and it supports usb PD over the C port
