I found this caption ' Same-day service in most major metropolitan areas world wide' in https://www.apple.com/support/products/iphone/ "One stop for support"

6.Same-day service availability and options may vary by region and iPhone model. For international service, Apple may repair or replace your iPhone and iPhone parts with a comparable iPhone model or parts that comply with local standards. Same-day replacement is not available for theft/loss claims. Service coverage is subject to the Terms and Conditions of AppleCare+ or AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss. For complete details, see the AppleCare+ for iPhone Terms and Conditions and the Theft and Loss Insurance Documentation applicable to your state.

Apple will check your device online, to see, if it has any damage, before you can buy Apple Care plus.

When they diagnose the device, they will recognize, that the phone has not been sold in the US, and you might not be able to buy the Apple Care plan.

Each iPhone is made for the use in the country where it has been sold, an so is the hardware inside the phone.

Differieren countries require different hardware, for example if it comes to using LTE or other network features. So, if you are having hardware issues with your device in the US, Apple might not be able to repair your phone, due to the missing hardware spare parts.
