my transfer is stuck on i more minute

Transferring data to new iphone 12 pro. It looks like its complete but the old phone seems to be stuck on i more minute until its finish. If I try and exit the message asks to stop transfer.

I have the exact issue. Old iphone stuck with 1 minute to go for the transfer. Did not say transfer complete as it should. So I am concern that its not complete somehow. However the new iphone 12 pro seem to work ok. but of course I cannot begin to check everything to be sure its completely transferred.

What next? Is that a software glitch? Seems it has happened to 2 other person on this thread.

I am considering whether I should reset the new phone to factory original and restart the Quick Transfer process all over again?

Thanks for your response. Going on 12 hours here after leaving the phones overnight and still, the old phone says, "Transferring data. Remaining time: Ten Minutes" like the old phone is frozen. The new phone looks fine but I cannot tell if everything transferred. New messages and notifications were coming in to the old phone during transfer and I don't know if those were transferred to the new phone. After reading all of these replies, it sounds like I have to reset the new phone and do an icloud backup. I've been too diligent over so many years to lose data now. I'm disappointed that Apple has not officially responded to this thread. Must be a software glitch. I'm going to call apple if the new phone works. If not, I'll go to Apple Store. Thanks all. Be safe.

You need to be patient. The phones are still transferring data. I left my old iPhone SE and new iPhone 12 Mini adjacent to each other and both on charger power overnight. I'm not certain how long the last "two minutes" took, but it had already been in that mode for a few hours when I went to bed hoping this was just "normal."

The next morning, viola! All was well. Everything had transferred, including all of my previous phone's settings, screen background, photos, music, everything! Also, the old iPhone had been completely reset to factory settings. Nothing whatsoever remained on it.

Bottomline, be patient.

Thank you for your reply! I too spoke to a support agent today and we decided to leave all as it was. With her on the line, I went ahead and stopped the transfer and the home screen on the old phone popped up. No transfer complete note. Unfortunately, notifications on each home screen were different. Photos matched, all 22,000. All contacts looked like they matched though the old phone said 6339 contacts and the new phone said 4 contacts though it looked like the contacts completely matched. Rather than restore and download from icloud I left it alone and will live with a slightly haunting feeling that the one file or contact I’ll need one day is the one that is lost in space. I honestly do not recommend phone to phone data transfer. And the agent said the same thing could happen with a cord. It would just happen faster. Quite plainly, it phone to phone doesn’t work dependably and the fact that no Apple support staff has addressed these chat threads is proof. I’ve used Apple since the first Mac so I am hear you stay. I am disappointed in this latest incident but will let it go and enjoy my new iPhone 12 Pro Max (transferring from iPhone X). Kinda big and heavy. I have huge hands so it’ll probably be fine, but jury is still out... Thanks again!

Mine said 2 minutes left at 8:30 last night. Still said 2 minutes left at 8:00 this morning. I finally had to cancel it. Of course my old phone's alarm kept going off and wouldn't let me cancel that until I cancelled the transfer. My new phone appears to function just fine. I will take a little time this morning to be sure everything works OK. I was transferring 11 Pro Max to 12 Pro Max.

Thanks for the response. I end up resetting the new phone to factory and restore it from my iCloud backup with Apple support. Everything is good. Working well.

in your case, when you checked your phones next morning did your old phone say “transfer complete” ?

How come your old phone was erased and reset to factory by itself. I thought you have to click several buttons in order to wipe your old phone.

Happy Thanksgiving.

If the BT phone to phone transfer need longer time it should so indicate rather than say "1 minute to go". This happened to several other individuals on the post. The instructions I've read indicated the old phone should say "Transfer complete" . I think there is some glitch in the Apple software. Anyway, we both came out OK. Thanks again.

I posted the same issue weeks ago. I agree that there is a software glitch happening to many other. Like you said, Apple should have addressed this problem, but didn't so far. Not being sure that everything is transferred, even superficially the new phone seems to worked just fine, I make an appointment online for a support call. The tech was super nice, walked me through a reset and transfer from my iCloud back up. You don't need to go to the store. Much safer stay at home and talk to the Apple support over the phone. Good luck.

My old iPhone exhibited "Hola!" when I awakened it, the same as when it was brand new with factory settings. It did not display "Transfer Complete."

Also, I diid not answer any questions beforehand about erasing my old phone. The process did that on its own. I suppose that if I wanted to, I could restore the phone from the backup of it on my MacBook.

I'm glad you were successful with your work-around.

I have had the same issue transferring from iPhone X to 12 pro. I got my new phone activated Monday and have been able to use the new phone just fine! For some reason my old phone is stuck on transferring data screen and I’m afraid if I cancel it will remove something from my new phone. As far as I can tell everything has transferred - I see my contacts, photos, old texts, etc... I need to be able to factory reset my old phone tho so I can ship it back for trade in $$! It would be lovely if Apple could respond to this discussion board! :)
