Apple Watch Series 3 keeps shutting off

Both of my kids have Apple Watch series 3 watches. My older son has had his watch for over a year and it’s always worked fine. It started randomly shutting off about a month ago. My other son just got his watch today and it’s starting to do the same thing. Randomly shuts off with full battery. I have shut off both watch and device like many forums suggest. We’ve also unpaired and set up like a new watch again. Seems like a software update needed to fix the glitch as I have a series 4 and it’s fine and it just started. Any ideas on how to fix it?

I have done everything according to these boards. I have unpaired my phone to my watch several times, I have reset all settings on my phone and my watch, I have done all of the updates that supposedly fix this bug. I use my watch to run and it is now useless. This is unacceptable, this watch is only one year old.

Hello Akcooke4,

We understand that you're having an issue with your 3rd gen Apple Watch randomly powering off. You have completed some great troubleshooting steps. Does the Apple Watch turn itself back on or do you have to power it back on yourself? Please try the following:

  1. Connect the Apple Watch to its charger and let it charge for at least three hours.
  2. Take the watch off its charger.
  3. Press and hold the side button on the watch until the Power Off slider appears.
  4. Drag the Power Off slider to the right to turn off the watch.
  5. Keep the watch turned off and disconnected from its charger for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Turn on the Apple Watch.

Let us know if there is anything further we can assist with.

Cheers.
