When playing Audible, the app shuts down after the screen goes to sleep. How do we fix this?!

This was happening with my iPhone 11 Pro Max before and somehow it fixed itself... now it's happening with my iPhone 12 Pro as well. When listening to an audiobook on Audible, once the screen goes to sleep, the app shuts down. How do we fix this?

I read a thread from 2015 that someone suggested to turn off auto-lock. That's NOT a viable solution for obvious reasons because it drains the battery faster. Seems like this needs a software fix by Apple. Any help is appreciated.

I have more information on this. It was driving me crazy because sometimes it worked just fine, sometimes it’s **** down as soon as I would swipe to another app.

after messing around with it for a while, it seems it only happens if I’m downloading a book from the cloud or syncing a book to my Apple Watch. Not sure why it shuts the app down when the screen goes to sleep. I don’t know if this needs an update from the app developer or if it’s a glitch in the iPhone software.

An audio book that’s been downloaded onto the phone can be listened to while I’m on another app without the audible app shutting down... works just fine... but if I select that book and select to sync to apple watch it’ll shut down the app when I’m on other apps or the screen goes to sleep.

Try removing the previous phone from your Apple ID account.

Settings -> (your name: Apple ID...)

In the list of devices at the bottom, select the previous device

Remove from Account
