Using zoom on macbook air

I bought a new 2020 MacBook Air in April. I use Zoom for teaching fitness classes. When using my MacBook Pro I have no issues at all but when using my Air it sounds like the fans are going (don't get this sound with the Pro) and also the mic volume increases and increases until I turn off the mic on zoom and turn it back on again! It's really strange! The laptop is propped up so that air can filter underneath. My Pro is really old so purchased the Air to teach from and I'm completely unable to use it for teaching. Help!

Hi LiggyJ,

We appreciate you reaching out through Apple Support Communities! We appreciate how important it is that your MacBook Air remains within comfortable temperatures without the fans running loudly while using Zoom during your classes. We're glad to help in any way we can.

As Zoom is a third-party application, we may refer to the app's developer for direct assistance if we determine the issue is isolated to this app. Have you noticed the microphone volume changing when the fans spin up in other apps?

Have you had an opportunity to check for updates to the Zoom app since noticing this behavior?

We've got a great link to share with you that has helpful information. Let us know if you've got any questions about this guide:

Have a great day!
