Vertical colored lines on screen

Turned on my macbook pro mid 2012 and suddenly colored, vertical lines appeared on the left-hand side of the screen. I had used my laptop the day before and nothing was wrong. I didnt drop my laptop or anything, it was on my desk the entire time.

i should mention that after i updated to mojave, the screen would glitch (have weird pixelated squares) but they would disappear after a bit.

please help me!! Im a student i cant afford a new one!

Hi woopgabbywoop,

Thanks for posting! Sounds like you're having an issue with the display on your MacBook Pro, do we have that right? Have you tried the steps here: Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac, they can help with some display issues you may have.
