my mac pro 2010 shut down randomly

hi there,

my mac pro 2010 has been shutting down randomly, I needed to wait for at least 30 minutes and reset the smc to turn it on, and mostly that works,

recently I checked "startup automatically after a power failure" in Energy Saver, and found out that every time it shuts down by itself, I unplug the power cable and replug it, it startup right away,

any clue how to fix the problem?

thanks in advance

No panics rules out festering RAM memory issues. In these Mac Pro with Xeon processor, RAM memory issue generate a distinctve kernel panic, machine check.

There is a way to get a (reduced complexity) digest of recent issues:

Download the little discovery Utility, Etrecheck.

Launch it, and before you say 'Go', set its preferences to "Allow Full Disk Access".

Run it, and the digest can be found at the end of the report.

The entire report is laundered of personally-identifiable information, so is safe to post back here on the forums.

The next issue is that your boot SSD has a slower-than-necessary write speed, because you have not enabled TRIM for third-party SSD devices. Use this command, and this article if you need more information:

sudo trimforce enable

https://www.lifewire.com/enable-trim-for-ssd-in-os-x-yosemite-2260789

When that is completed, restart in Safe Mode (hold shift at startup). Safe mode does one pass of Disk Repair on the boot drive, and honors the setting of TRIMforce. This will remove the accumulated deleted data blocks from your boot SSD, and should make writes faster.

The most pressing issues are that you are running an invasive and counter-productive Virus scanner, Intego. This is not only not necessary, it decreases security and punishes performance while NOT improving virus resistance over the very good virus protection built into MacOS. this should be removed and never re-installed.

The other scanner you are running is named DropBox. Because it is not a native Mac Application, but an Application ported form another environment, its developer has never taken the time to look at Apple System data structures that already detect changed folders. Instead, when you install its kernel extension, it scan your files NON-STOP, looking for changes. For most users, this is nonsense -- just run it when you need it and quit it after it has updated your dropbox.

You have a lot of other add-ons. I am not sure if any specific one is causing your grief, but fewer is usually better.

You diagnostic digest does not show any single problem happening over and over. But two recent problems were caused by adobe software.

Panic Reports are stored at:

/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports

They are named with Date&Time and end in .panic

You can post the entire report here, by using the “additional text” Icon in the reply header (looks like a paper with writing).

Please don’t post more about 20 lines of any other types of reports — they are interminable, and any information useful for this purpose is on the first screenful.

There are three quick take-aways from any panic report.

1) The panic-reason,

2) the extensions present at the "scene of the crime", and

3) the BSD process in which the problem occurred.

One more item that is important is the names of any third-party Extensions you have added. They are shown FIRST in the extensions loaded section

NB> If the above is just "word-salad" to you, just ask and Readers can explain a bit more.
