My Mac Pro 5,1 with Radeon RX 580 8GB connected to a 30" Apple Cinema HD Display?

Hmmm...there were some other posts on this subject that had said active adapters would also work - which did not. In this case this dual link adapter is just about the same price as the graphics card itself. I would be better off swapping graphics cards and getting the version of this RX580 with a DVI port. Using the HDMI or DP port on this card to run a the Apple LED Cinema Display 27" monitors we have – I'll have to just swap and match the Cards to the right monitors as it turns out. I'll at least try this approach before I go buy the Dual LinkDVI option.

For anyone who is connecting a Radeon RX 580 to a 30" Apple Cinema display or even the 23" Apple Cinema Display - just make sure you get a version of this graphics card that has the DVI port option. Many of these cards that are on the market only come with Display Port and HDMI ports which will NOT run these monitors at the correct resolution - 1280 x 800 is the highest they will go unless you purchase the very expensive dual link DVI adapter listed below by Malcom. I simply switched out two RX 580 cards so was able to pair the DVI version of the card with my 30" Apple Display and the Display Port version of the RX 580 with an Apple LED Cinema Display 27" - Which are the primary Monitors we use in our design studio. We do still use our matt screen 23" and 30" Apple LCD Cinema Display monitors as they just keep on going and literally have a zero reflective screen and are easy on the eyes!
