hdcp compliance not detected with safari

Hi,

When I try to watch Netflix, crave, primevideo on safari Version 14.0 on my MacBook Pro with Catalina 10.15.7 on an external monitor I get a black screen on Netflix and an "hdcp not detected" error on crave. I know it is not an issue with my monitor or my hdmi adapter because I can watch on this monitor using google chrome.

Is there some setting I need to fiddle with? Is it a problem with safari?

Thank you,

Ian

Hi there ibenlo,

It sounds like you're having some trouble with video content being played on a display connected to your MacBook Pro.

Do you encounter the same or similar behavior when playing video from iTunes or the TV app on your Mac?

What type of adapter are you using? Do the specifications of the adapter mention HDCP-encrypted playback being supported?

If you encounter the message or issue with playback after your Mac goes to sleep, try quitting the app that video is playing from, and reopening it.

The following page offers some additional information on the subject: Connect to HDMI from your Mac

Int he behavior persists, let us know whether the same content plays on your Mac's built in display without issue.

We'll look forward to using what we learn from your responses to plan the best solution for you!
