Playing hdr videos form MacBook Pro to monitor without hdr

I have many movies downloaded (some in HDR) to my MacBook Pro 16” and I want to play them on my projector but but the proctor does not have HDR and I keep getting a message saying I can’t play the HDR movies on my projector is there a way around this?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 10.15

Hello TurboT9030,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! We see you have a question about using your projector with your MacBook Pro, and we'd like to help.

Are you able to view the HDR movies directly on your MacBook Pro without the projector?

Are you able to view non HDR content using your projector?

If so, then we'd suggest contacting the projector's manufacturer. They may be able to advise what to do, or it could be that the projector just isn't compatible with that type of content.

Take care!
