How to add images from Safari web pages to library WITHOUT "Photos" opening up

How to right-click-add images from web pages in Safari to library WITHOUT causing the "Photos" app to launch and gaining focus?

All of a sudden this behavior came up recently - quite annoying since Photos gets the focus and you have to manually tab back to Safari to continue browsing. This has been working in the past without the Photos app up and running.

Any idea? Maybe it's just a quick link pointing me into the right direction or towards proper search keywords.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Hey jodifu1,

If we understand correctly, you are downloading images from websites but it is launching the Photos app when you do this. You can save images without using the Photos app depending on the option chosen.

"Save an image from a webpage

  1. In the Safari app  on your Mac, Control-click the image.
  2. Choose Save Image to “Downloads,” Save Image As, or Add Image to Photos.
  3. Some images, such as background images, can’t be saved.

Tip: With some images, you can drag the image directly to a document or your desktop."
