Headphone Safety.

Is it possible to disable headphone safety? As a motorcyclist using a Bluetooth headset, having the volume drop midcall or during music is a little distracting.

iPhone 8, iOS 14

I’m not even USING headphones! I teach fitness classes and my phone has my music and is plugged into the stereo with it turned up on my phone and there stereo adjusted to a reasonable level and the music cuts out! It’s doing the same thing with my Bluetooth dongle I have for the car. While I do appreciate protecting hearing this feature is being triggered by other lightning devices not in my ears and is negatively affecting my ability to do my job!!! FIX IMMEDIATELY APPLE!!!!

Exactly the same problem, i'm a motorcyclist wearing earplugs (ironically to protect my hearing). My phone is now largely useless (that was a grand well spent). If you are in the EU and running iOS 14.2 you're stuffed, you cannot disable it. They assume that all devices are headphones, it will turn everything down. We are used to Apples massive ego, but this is a step too far, sure tell me it could be an issue but to actually keep turning the volume down is outrageous.... Think i'll move to North Korea, they are a bit more relaxed there. I urge everyone to explain their situation to Apple in the hope that 14.2.1 restores the off switch.

I’ve found a workaround, but not a proper fix. It seems that iPhones in Europe can’t disable this feature...

My workaround is to clear the data the phone collects just under once a week, so the app thinks I haven’t exceeded my 7-day limit. You can do this by going:

Settings > Health > Data access & devices > [your phone or whatever other device(s) you use] > Delete all data (or you can go from the same menu to Headphones Audio Levels and delete individual days).

This really annoys me: I got my cans because they’re a good mix of high quality and low volume, and even have noise cancelling so I don’t have to turn it up when I walk past a busy road or something. What’s the point of having a feature on the phone that you’re not allowed to use? It’s the Garden of Eden all over again...
