Big Sur vs. Gatekeeper Policy

Hi Everyone! Am trying to install Big Sur, but as soon as the installation finishes, I got an error message saying that "the package installassistant.pkg fails to meet gatekeeper policy".

I looked up Gatekeeper in my System Prefs, and I currently have it set to allow "installation of apps from App Store and identified developers".

I'd have guessed Apple would be #1 on that list...

What should I do? Thanks!

Update: Issue resolved, downloading from App store did fix the issue indeed,

  1. Reboot, and makes sure you wait until the preferences badge notification indicates an update is available,
  2. open app store search for macos big sur,
  3. click get, and it will send you to the software update asking for confirmation that you want to upgrade.
  4. If it fails reboot and try again

this worked like a charm for me.
