delete broken install file

So, I installed Big Sur, but one of the programs didn't want to work correctly. I did not make backup copies, because I knew that the vast majority of programs were already ready for updating and everything would be fine. Due to the fact that I do not know well how the update to the previous version of Mac OS works, I downloaded Mac OS Catalina from the App Store. After the download was completed, an error appeared that the OS could not be installed, since I have a newer version. And now I cannot get rid of the installation file.

1. Tried to uninstall from Launchpad (There is no cross to remove).

2. I tried to delete by moving to the trash from Applications (After moving to the trash, the files broke and then cannot be deleted because this file is in use).

3. I downloaded an even older version of Mac OS to try to remove it the same way.

Now I have 2 OS Catalina and Mojave installation files on my computer, which take up 12 GB of memory and cannot be deleted.

Help remove, I beg you)

Hey олег17,

Sounds like you're having some issues deleting a couple macOS installers.

You're actually on the right track. You'll need to make sure that neither installer is currently open and running on your Mac. After doing so, you should then be able to successfully delete these applications by dragging them to the Trash at that point and entering your Admin password if prompted for it.

We hope this information helps out!

Take care.
