SuperDuper no longer works after Big Sur installation in my iMac

I've satisfactorily used SuperDuper with a G-DRIVE Mini (APFS format) to back up my 2015 iMac for the past five years until I installed Big Sur today. Always has worked flawlessly. Other than this Big Sur seems to be working fine on my iMac.

Now, when I open Super Duper a window notes that it can't see my hard drive. I can select it manually, however. And it doesn't see my G-DRIVE Mini at all. So, nothing works anymore.

Any suggestions for what I should do about this?

Here's a portion of a blog on the Shirt Pocket (SuperDuper) web site:

" . . . On our end, SuperDuper will not be compatible with Big Sur on day of release. As I indicated on twitter, the first time we were able to make a successful bootable copy of Big Sur at all was November 5th. As of this writing, that was six days ago. Until that point it wasn't possible. So, it's going to be a while. Until then, if you must move to Big Sur, use Time Machine."

So that's the answer, and entirely compatible with the good advice above, expecially about contacting the third party developer first to see what's going on.

I've seen that (see my comments here weeks ago), but I think having no info at all from them is odd, and unprofessional. SuperDuper has been a great app, which I have always admired as I used it. But, after all, we paid for it. It seems to me they could at least provide a status report to subscribers explaining where they stand in developing a fix. If they truly can't make it work with Big Sur they should say so, and we can look for alternatives.

Naturally I first looked at the Shirt Pocket (SuperDuper) site for info, but it doesn't provide any help. I've only been pursuing more info here because I thought some participants might know more about what to expect.

Hello babowa, correct. I was actually parrotting what one of the support reps explained I do in an email requesting clarification. But your experience is correct, as I found I only needed to request registration and as you described it was done automatically. So there was a slight variation between what the rep said and what I did which is closer to your description. I did not have to enter my key code. Just request registration. Good that you clarified it. Best, REShaman

Hello LuckyPierre12, That's some handle (smile). That's fine. And thank you for the update. Given I have such important files that I prefer backed up by now as it has been too long an interval (without blaming Dave), I just felt I wasn't willing to wait him out. So I am now able to backup a bootable clone of my iMac and Mac mini I use exclusively for music and must have backups (not bootable as the music files are located on Raid 5 external HDs, but the Mac mini internal HD also needed to be backed up and or me with a bootable clone. Once again, I wish Dave good fortune with getting SuperDuper released to work with Big Sur. Best, REShaman
