Kensington Trackball software stopped working after upgrading to MacOS Big Sur

I have Kensington Trackball. Looks like Kensington Trackball software doesn't have access to Trackball even though permission are given in Accessibility (Privacy & Security). I use trackball with my lefthand and I can no longer configure my buttons to use with left hand.

My old (trusty) Kensington Expert Mouse (wired trackball) became unresponsive with Big Sur. I completely fixed the problem in the following way.

Sometime in the recent months, I had upgraded to Kensington's new "KensingtonWorks" software. On a hunch, I completely deleted all bits of that software. (That means checking in the Library, etc. ) I then replaced it with the older Kensington TrackballWorks, which is still available. Problem solved.

Tried everything everybody suggested but nothing worked. Been using the K trackball since forever. Updated to Big Sur and it was horrible. It was never particularly happy in Catalina either. Tried KensingtonWorks and TrackballWorks. These showed up by default as an item in my System Preferences (launch at startup...). After a month of failed solutions and misery, I trashed my Kensington preferences (in Preference Panes; find through Spotlight), restarted, and it now works perfectly. KensingtonWorks no longer shows up in System Preferences and has to be opened through the app in the Applications folder. No explanation but it works perfectly after a great deal of grief. I suggest that if you have been accessing the software anywhere other than through the app alone, trash your prefs, restart and see what happens. Have a mouse handy as backup and have a dmg of the software available in case you have to do a re-install. I didn't have to use either but I was ready.
