I'm trying to get GarageBand to update before installing Big Sur but am getting this error:
I'm currently running Catalina. Any idea what's causing this?

Why would the app store then, show that I need a new Garageband update if my laptop is not capable of installing Big Sur? It is old enough where Big Sur won't install but the Garageband update is still showing that I need it but I can't install it. It is a little bit annoying to have that red notification circle all the time from now on forever if I can't install it.
Yes, the new version of Garageband requires Big Sur. You have to install Big Sur before you can update GarageBand.

Really? Gee thanks. I figured that much already. I am hoping someone knew of a workaround or so Apple knows about it and can fix it.
Apple is aware of it. No doubt it will take some time to fix.
