WiFi Speeds (iPhone 12 Pro Max)

Anybody else having slow or inconsistent WiFi speeds on iPhone 12 Pro Max? I know it’s not my WiFi because all my other devices work as usual including my iPhone X which is still have/upgraded from.

I finally solved the ridiculously slow wifi speed (just got my iphone 12 pro max today).

Turns out my VPN was kicking in while trying to configure/test everything else out.

Bottomline: I had to use cellular data to download the VPN (because it was only partially downloaded), then once it was downloaded, i disabled it. Then.... voila... wifi speed was back to "crazy fast"

Just a thought.... look at your VPN (to if you can disable it)

worked for me.

What "toggling" are you referring to?

There isn't something inherently slow about Wi-Fi on the iPhone 12 models, there may be something slowing it on your network.

I don't have to do anything special and I get this speed on every Wi-Fi network I connect to.

The number one setting you should check is to make sure Wi-Fi assist is off.

My issue may be a little different. The wifi will stop working on mine. All will be good, then speed will throttle down and stop working(still connected with great wifi signal next to router). Rest of devices in house are fine. I’ve also experienced this issue at work numerous times, which is a different ISP and hardware compared to home.

I live over 4hrs from the closest Apple store, so Apple support just keeps sending me a new replacement homing it’ll magically cure the issue. I’m on my 3rd replacement and issue just happened today (1day ownership of this new replacement). Called Apple and they want to send me another replacement. Tried everything from turning off wifi assist, resetting network settings, resting entirely and keeping backup off to test, even had ISP change all equipment at home, nothing resolved the issue. Out of 5 Apple devices at home, I’m the only one with this issue...

Millions of people are using their iPhone 12 Pro Max with WiFi with zero issues, so it's much more likely to be your wireless access point/router that has an issue.

I just checked mine and got a result basically the same as that I posted in the post right above yours.

Have you checked to make sure your router is running the most recent firmware available for it?

I have been seeing very inconsistent speeds on my iPhone 12 pro max, and every single time it is slower than my old phone (Samsung Z flip). I am getting at maximum speeds, less than half the speeds my other phone is running over wireless. There was a form online I looked up on how to troubleshoot my WiFi problems. Every troubleshooting step has been performed on my end with no gains. (Reconfigure DNS, Forget Wi-Fi network and join again, reset network settings, reboot router, update firmware on router, make sure you don’t have a VPN running, try toggling Wi-Fi assist on and off, etc).

I hope this issue is going to get fixed for everyone. But I have seen too many issues with this device since I got it. It’s going to be returned. Another unsuccessful iPhone for me 😁

I’m noticing slow WiFi on my 12 Pro too. On doing a speed test it’ll hit the max speed I have with my provider, but quickly drops by 75% and holds it there every time.

My 12 year old iMac, works Samsung A40 and laptop all hit max download speeds where ever they are in the house.

Also, connecting via mesh router. Logging onto it shows I’m connect at 5Ghz too

I have same issue with iphone 12.

I compared iphone 12 pro max & iphone 11 pro max side by side.

Both have same settings, same IOS ( tested both few times on ios14.2 and also latest 14.3 ). Private address turned off. Both connected to same router at 5 ghz.

Iphone 12pm consistently show weak wifi signal ( -70dbm ) and slower speed on speedtest.

Iphone 11pm at stronger signal ( -56dbm) and consistently faster speedtest than iphone 12.

Wifi AX Router is already at latest firmware.

I really don’t know what else to do than making a trip to apple store.
