Where have flags and attachments gone in Mail column layout in Big Sur?

If you right-click on the sorting bar (if that's what it is called) you will get an options box. In that box you will see various items to display such as From and Subject. Flags and Attachments are also here to be selected.

In mac-speak what David said is: control-click any column header (From, Subject, Date Received, Mailbox, etc.) and a contextual menu will appear from which you can add headers like Attachments, Size, etc.

None of this helped for me. I see the column on the Attachments and I see the column with the flags... but they are empty which is not possible. Same with the dot in front of an unread email. It is gone. Tried everything to get these things back without any luck. Not sure what else I can try? It happened all at once. Started mail two days ago and this was gone.
