IPhone 12 Pro Max Lens flare

Love the cameras. But horrible lens flares.

And it seems it’s defective:

One the right, above the window. Green flares from tube lights to the left.

In the middle of the picture:

On the TV screen:

Will try out during the day and post

I can't remember if I showed these two photos here in this thread or in another one on this topic.

Here's a picture I took with flare. I could easily see the flare on my iPhone 12 Pro Max screen before I took the photo, which you could have seen if you were holding my phone as well:

Is my phone defective? No, of course not.

Without moving my position at all, I moved the angle of the camera relative to the scene and took this photo seconds later. Notice anything different? The flares are gone.

The way I'm awarded points is by actually helping users solve issues they can't solve on their own. It is users who give us points when they ask a question and we give them the right solution. Apple doesn't give me points. I actually help people here on lots of topics and I enjoy helping people. But that's with things that can be resolved. This thread is about something no one can resolve other than to tell people to be more careful when taking photos. I'm not defending Apple in this thread. I'm offering WHY these flares occur and what we can do to reduce or eliminate them.

When did pictures taken with phones require post production? so much for ease of use. I of course can use post production software on all my photos for many purposes (replace the sky anyone?) but do you think purchasers who buy a phone (camera) buy it knowing now that they will need to do this. And how are people going to solve the green dots and ghosting in videos.

Other phones do have flares BUT normal, expected flares ... the beautiful ones....not 300 dots on a photo and terrible reflections. .

the phone is powerful fantastic and I love it. The lens are also great BUT they restrict me. I cannot shoot in light, I cannot shoot in the house as I get ghost, and honestly I have not yet tried to shoot video at night ... I think I will be crying tears there!

keep in mind that I ve been using  since iPhone 3g and have never changed ever since.

Hey Dogcow-Moof 👋

I didn’t see any references on other phones like we have here. Your links only lead on dot glares. But we have here full mirroring of light sources. It ruins the whole video shooting and it cannot be avoided.

I have never seen such a defect on the video, either on DSLR cameras or mirrorless or on the phones of other companies.

Will be glad to see exact the same level of video defects on other devices.

Terrible 😕
