Love the cameras. But horrible lens flares.
And it seems it’s defective:
One the right, above the window. Green flares from tube lights to the left.
In the middle of the picture:
On the TV screen:
Will try out during the day and post
Well I never had any of those flares on either the 6 or the 8, so for me it's not normal. And as you can read from others the flares are much more prominent on the later models like 11, 12, and 13. Also the video example from the car reviewer is a bad example because his camera is so close to those lights, so im not surprised if that would give some flares.
The bottom line is it's normal, and it's not going away unless physics changes.
Nice of you to throw the iPhone 13 in there as we haven't even had any posts complaining of flare on the new devices yet.
Unfortunately it’s not defective this is just how they are, I’m working with the 12 pro and 12 pro max and both are like this. I’m guessing the only fix would be with the next iPhone model?

Actually, a quick Internet search shows they do and have other flare issues of their own.
For example, this is a shot taken with the M10 Ultra:
The worst lens and least esthetically pleasing lens flare I’ve seen on any camera. It can really get out of control.
For those of you claiming these dots are “normal,” this is NOT normal.
As a professional photographer, you know how to minimize lens flare or avoid it altogether.
