Love the cameras. But horrible lens flares.
And it seems it’s defective:
One the right, above the window. Green flares from tube lights to the left.

Here's a picture I took with flare. I could easily see the flare on my iPhone 12 Pro Max screen before I took the photo, which you could have seen if you were holding my phone as well:
Is my phone defective? No, of course not.
Without moving my position at all, I moved the angle of the camera relative to the scene and took this photo seconds later. Notice anything different? The flares are gone.
How w did you get to do that? I want to open a ticket too.
No, engineering currently wants you to send photos.
That is not an admission that it is abnormal.
Wow. You know the entirety of our conversation after Apple already saw some of the photos and they asked me to send more. No, Apple did not think it was normal.
Yet another photo proving when you take photos in conditions guaranteed to induce lens flare, you get… lens flare!
Not at all. I still have my note 20 ultra and not a single flare i can see during night node or taking a pic with lights etc.
You once again have shown the type of ghosting flare that is present in all premium smartphone cameras from all vendors.
Cases can only do so much, especially when it has to be open over the camera lenses.
Thankfully AppleCare+ will have you taken care of quickly.
I have tested tonight a few iPhones and android phone and all has similar dots while taking photos against lights, it’s not just an iPhone 12. Perhaps 12 series has bigger lens and bigger green dots

Correct. It’s mitigated with proper coatings applied to all lens surfaces along with flocking and baffling of the interior surfaces.
If u download touch retouch app it takes the green dots out. I use if i see the crap
I haven’t heard the the pro has the lens flare problem...I’m assuming that the max is worse regarding this is the correct?
Then return yours if you still can, otherwise sell it or learn to live with it.
This is not a defect, and it won't be changing, regardless of how "acceptable" you feel it to be.
