App Store apps do not install properly on a fresh install of High Sierra on internal SSD or HDD

I upgraded my iMac 27-inch Mid-2011 with a 240-GB SSD alongside the existing 2-TB HDD. After the upgrade, I tested and everything worked great using the existing High Sierra system on the 2-TB HDD.

I did a new install of macOS High Sierra from Apple over the internet on to the 240-GB SSD. It was a fast and error-free installation. The iMac started up fast from the SSD and I applied system updates.

I completed all configuration tasks (setup all my preferences and installed all my applications and utilities) and then I ran it like this for a couple of days trying things out.

When it was time to add my App Store apps I ran into a snag. All my purchased apps install but will not run. When I launch them they either generate an error report, or bounce once in the dock, or do nothing at all.

I also tried adding new free apps that were not attached to my account and they behave the same way. So, I did some troubleshooting things like trying a different login and playing with permissions. Nothing works.

I spent an hour today on a support call with Apple and they were not able to figure it out and recommended I take it to for Apple authorized service.

I gave up and reinstalled the operating system on the HDD and to my surprise the same issue is happening on the original drive; that was working just fine!

Has anyone else experienced this? Can I not have two internal drives?

If you delete valid.sqlite3 from an old working High Sierra, app will not launch.

Indeed, valid.sqlite3 from the old working High is much smaller.

New file :

-rw-r--r--  1 root  wheel  17293312 26 nov 16:16 /Library/Keychains/crls/valid.sqlite3

Old file :

-rw-r--r--  1 root  wheel  7794688 26 nov 18:06 /Library/Keychains/crls/valid.sqlite3

So I replaced the new valid.sqlite3 from the new High Sierra with the old valid.sqlite3 from the old High Sierra.

sudo killall -9 trustd; sudo cp /path_to_old_file/valid.sqlite3 /Library/Keychains/crls/valid.sqlite3

It seems to work even after reboot.

Old file, just unzip before copying :

Just to make sure I understand correctly. The App Store apps worked when you did a clean install but didn't sign in with your Apple ID on the setup screen and didn't install the security updates? To download the apps you have to sign in with your Apple ID to be able to download your purchased apps. And what happens after installing the updates? Do the already downloaded apps stop working?

Sorry for all the questions.

Yup...exactly the same for me. However, upgrading this computer isn't an option because High Sierra is the highest supported system on a iMac 27-inch Mid 2011.

I want to continue to use this computer because its the most powerful I have for processing. I have several more recent Macs (mini 2012, mini 2014, MacBook, and Macbook Air) that don't meet the multi-core performance of this iMac (3.4-GHz i7-2600 'Sandy Bridge', 16-GB RAM, 240-GB SSD, 2-TB HDD). The only thing that hinders a forced upgrade to Mojava is that the specific Radeon HD 6970M is not properly supported.

I have tried many variations of format, reinstall, and configure including not signing initially with an Apple ID at setup. When the desktop loaded I tried a couple of dozen apps from a variety of developers and about 80% don't work. I apply updates and nothing changes. I start the whole process and gain and try a different variation. etc. going back to last Wednesday I have tried about 10-12 variations...

This is not an issue we can fix.

I will try whit the terminal command once the security update finishes installing. After that i will try whit testing the apps and post my results. So far, the most stable way is in the procedure i posted earlyer. If afrer the terminal command, the apps become unstable, i will reinstall the os but take pictures so i can post the installation process.

Just came across another app that simply won't run AND leaves no crash report whatsoever (the weatherbug app). Same thing, came from app store, did a reinstall and open try that does nothing at all.

This is really outrageous... their aim obviously is to funnel everything through their store, so you'd think issues like this would get their attention and solution pronto.

I think it's called "crickets."

I kinda appreciate so many being seriously in the weeds here, but the issue remains, I can NOT d/l ANYTHING from the app store in addition to 2 apps I've already used before (I even went back to a version of one app that worked BEFORE I did the HS update, it fails on launch just like the version I tried to get from the app store). Has Cupertino had ANY response?

You absolutely right, what is needed is another update to fix this. I won't be surprised if the update is an App Store update.

It's unfortunate you can't downgrade to Sierra because of the apps you use. I was lucky and most of my apps are working in Sierra...119 of them LOL. Ok not all of them; I have one app that requires High Sierra and a couple of others that I had to settle on the older versions.

I wasn't shocked when I talked with Apple Support last week, I knew the first few minutes were going to be a waste of time as they went through the script for someone who doesn't know how to use their computer (I use to work in IT as a Mac/Win specialist). Anyway, after more than an hour their solution was for me to take the iMac into Apple or authorized service centre. Seriously!

This whole issue has seemingly taken over my life now! I think we are of like mind... they made new, far more restrictive rules for developers and arbitrarily applied them all across the board. The 3 highlighted apps in my experience all very much point to it. Fortunately, so far I have not found any other existing apps I have suffering... and the three are not indispensable for me. Even so, my expectation is that the App Store is now shut down for me... I have zero confidence anything I bother downloading will ever work. Good thing for me is my beloved cMP makes for a pretty good winblozen machine... guess I should start getting a lot of more familiar with it. I'll post back here if I ever do get escalated to Tier 3 support.

There's been some great work done by everyone on this and other discussion threads that helps people get by ...bravo! Hopefully, we will see a fix from Apple in the coming week or so.

I'm also hoping to hear from my organization's Mac specialists on Monday about what they have found. Many of them are fully certified by Apple so I trust their ability to sort this out and connect with Apple.

I can sign into this forum in Safari. The link gives me a "Page Not Found" error. Even after I remove the comma at the end.

EDIT.

I can get to the idmsa.apple.com address if I use this
