Driver CUPS PPD for Samsung ML-1865W printer

I have a Samsung ML-1865W printer, which was working, with Catalina, using a PPD file. The manufacturer does not offer 64-bit drivers.

I downloaded the file at:

https://www.openprinting.org/printer/Samsung/Samsung-ML-1865W

It happens that the file from the link above is corrupted, with zero bytes, and when formatting my system, I lost the file that was working.

Does anyone know where to find another file that works on the Mac?

The ppd of the linux printer driver did not work, I already tried to extract it.

Hi,

The printer is in the current list in article About AirPrint - Apple Support as HP ML-1865W. Mentioned as Samsung ML-1865W in an older edition of the article (modified Dec 10, 2015).

According to the article Add a printer on Mac - Apple Support: "If your printer is AirPrint-enabled, it’s compatible with macOS."

OK. The only basic Mac drivers (V5.00) at the HP Support site are for OS X 10.10 Yosemite and earlier. There are Linux drivers too (e.g. Ubuntu V1.00.39_01:17). I guess that you have checked all these already, as well as HP and older Samsung downloads from Apple, for anything of interest.

Samsung Printer Drivers v2.6 for OS X

Sometimes, it can be worth looking for drivers for similar printer models from the same manufacturer.

Good luck!

Hello again,

The PPD that you mentioned appears to have been part of the then Samsung unified driver for Linux. If you go to HP's support page https://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/samsung-ml-1865-laser-printer-series/19134664

-> drivers (with Linux chosen as an operating system), you should find https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/SS/SL-C4010ND/uld_V1.00.39_01.17.tar.gz .

If you download and save that file, and open the tar.gz, the result should be a uld folder. Inside is a noarch folder. Then a share folder. Finally, a ppd folder. If you open it, you will find an ML-1865W Series ppd file. Could this be what you are looking for?
