can I subscribe to Apple Music without linking to my computers music library? I'd like to subscribe but I don't want to connect to my own library - I don't want those playlists in my Music playlists

Yes, I run multiple libraries. My Apple Music library is mirrored on a couple of machines and available on my HomePod and Apple TV, iPad, and iPhone. My main library of about 60,000 tracks is complete separated from Apple Music. I also have the library backed up for security.
