Resetting the SMC and your NVRAM:

Sometimes when changes are made to the system(updates), system configurations (i.e. for Bluetooth) become manipulated, technically. So, the SMC and NVRAM. It might take upto 3 attempts to reset each. So, be certain you have the time to so do. It might take up to three times to perform this successfully. Using an external keyboard may make it easy to reset this.

I totally told him that this is a defect and why do I need to pay for the diagnostic fee. The apple support clearly say that I don't need to pay anything. Any thoughts on this?"

Wait for the Service to Take Place:

So, just let things stand while awaiting for service. Mention to the AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) about resetting the SMC and NVRAM. They'll probably try this on their own part. But, if that is unsuccessful, then they'll know where to go from there.
