I have had My Passport for Mac for a long time

When trying to use it today to backup, I get the message that "Backup Disk Not Available, Try backing up again when My Passport for Mac is available"!!! I see a lot of similar questions below but don't see any of the answers. Where do I see the answers?

help! y MacBook "sees" my MY PASSPORT disk, but says the disk is ot available when I try to back up Time Machine. Why? My MacBook Pro can "see" that My Passport is connected to it, but when I try to back up with Time Machine onto My Passport, I get a window saying "Backup Disk Not Available"! My last backup to My Passport was on November 21, 2021 and it worked just fine. NOTE: the disk is not full

Time Machine not backing up I am getting the message from Time Machine that is "couldn't back up to "My Passport." My Passport is my external hard drive from Western Digital. I had a backup on June 15th haven't since. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

I understand Time Machine is reporting that your backup disk is not available. Please read If Time Machine on your Mac can’t find your backup disk.
