Hello! I am going go buy the iPhone12 Pro and I live in Russia.
Now I can buy the US iPhone version abroad, still I am not sure what will be the difference between US version and Russian tested iPhone 12 Pro that we have in local stores.
Would American iPhone 12 Pro be fully functional in Russia?

Models in different countries have different cellular specs, so not necessarily. Go to the apple site for the respective countries and look at the Tech Specs under 'Cellular and Wireless' to compare
e.g.

It appears just looking quickly that the USA models are a superset of the supported bands in the RU models. Some countries do have bands that are not supported in the USA model for example the Canada models have LTE band 21 which is missing from the USA models per the specs.

The warranty will only be valid in the US.

It seemed to me that all the iPhone 12 Pro have worldwide warranty for 1 year only, do they?
In Russia, we have a regulation for extending the warranty for 2 years in total in case the phone has Rostest certification.

Looking through the specs - I guess US version covers even more cellular networks, which may be great for travelling abroad.

No, there is not international warranty. If you need service on the iPhone you purchase in the US you will need to return to the US.
