iMovie 10.2.1: How to show timecode? No Preference options...

Hello, I am hoping to be able to see the actual time code when I hover over clips, instead of needing to click on a section to then see what HH:MM:SS:Frames I am at. I've spent a good amount of time looking this up in forums, that all say I can change this via Preferences, but my preferences does not have a "General" option. How do I do this? randomly clicking all over the clip in the hopes that I'll land on the time stamp that I'm looking for is really inefficient.

I found this as an answer to this question, but again, I don't have this option and can't find anything about whether this version specifically has an alternate way to show the time code.

To display timecode values: Choose iMovie > Preferences, click General, and then select “Display time as HH:MM:SS:Frames.”

Thank you all, I really appreciate the help!

Hi, GenevieveW8,

The best that can be done in iMovie is to expand out the timeline and then place your cursor anywhere on the clip and, while holding down the r key, press down and drag the cursor over the clip. A yellow box will appear outlining the range you are dragging over. A frame counter box also will appear that displays the frames as you drag.
