Old iPhone 4 with iMessgaes

I have an old iPhone for with IOS7. I want the old iMessages on this phone. However I can't back them up or sync them. This phone is from 2014 and was turned off and never used again, its on it's last legs and won't let me change any of the settings.

I want the iMessages to go on my iMac. How can I get this to work? do I need to buy a third party app?

I have iPhone 4S iOS 9.3.6, iPhone 6 iOS 12.4.9, iPhone SE iOS 14.2, iPhone 8 iOS 14.2 and an iPad Pro iPadOS 14.2. Prior to that I had iPhone 3GS, which I have stopped using because it is carrier locked.

I have been updating all these devices whenever a new iOS are released.

Get started

On iPhone 4 -->

  1. Choose which devices can send and receive text messages from your iPhone. If you're not using two-factor authentication for your Apple ID, a verification code appears on each of your other devices: enter that code on your iPhone.
  2. * Don't see the Text Message Forwarding setting on your iPhone? Go to Settings > Messages, turn off iMessage, turn it back on, tap Send & Receive, tap Use Your Apple ID for iMessage, then sign in with the same Apple ID used on your other devices.
  3. To forward an SMS/MMS from your iPhone, you need a text-messaging plan. Contact your wireless carrier for more information.
