MacOS recovery commands not working to erase and reinstall OS

Mac Mini does not respond to Command + R upon start-up. Trying to use disk utility to erase HD and reinstall OS. Please advise.

What keyboard are you using?

If wireless, try using a USB keyboard.

If generic USB, try Control or Option + R.

reinstall macOS using macOS Recovery methods i have an old iMac 10.5.8 and trying to reinstall macOS that came with it but unable to start up using macOS recovery methods. when powerup system, i press Shift-Option-⌘-R, but it's not working. system starts up normally at login prompt without the Recovery menu. i tried Command (⌘)-R, and Option-⌘-R as well but not working. these steps are from https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204904 so what else can i do?

Cannot reinstall MacOS after erasing hard drive I am giving away an Intel-based Air and wanted to erase all of my data. I followed the instructions to erase the hard drive in Recovery mode. When I went to reinstall MacOS, I got this screen: When I returned to Disk Utility, I saw this: I have no idea what to do with this.
