There are many posts in the discussion with this problem. Try resetting Keynote as follows:
complete all of the steps in the order listed:
1. ensure you have a current backup of all your user files, saved to a separate drive
2. close all applications
3. uninstall Keynote; for this procedure to work, an application removal tool must be used, App Delete has a free trial and works for this procedure. It can be downloaded from the developer’s website here: App Delete
4. empty the Trash (Finder > Empty Trash)
5. restart the Mac (Apple Menu > Restart); Immediately after the Apple startup sound, press the shift key on the keyboard, release shift when the Apple icon appears. Start up will take longer than usual as the Mac is performing a software repair of the start up drive
6. After the Mac is fully powered up, restart the Mac normally: Apple Menu > Restart
7. reinstall Keynote from the Mac App Store Application
8. Restart the Mac again
Post back and confirm if this helped

Had the same problem. I uninstalled Keynote and re-installed to see if it would work but nothing happened. I then copied the document I wanted to open an online drive. I used google but you can use whichever you like and re-downloaded the file and it seemed to work. Hope this helps.

Reinstall the macOS:
Nothing would be lost. It's just that misplaced items would be placed back to where they should be and corrupt system files would be replaced by clean files. Go Here: Reinstall macOS - Apple Support. Use the third bulleted method: [command + r]. Prior to performing the reinstallation, to prevent data loss, be sure to Back up your Mac with Time Machine.

I successfully upgraded to Big Sur, all of my Apps work except for Apple's "Keynote, Pages and Numbers". Keynote crashes immediately when launching. I have tried everything under the sun....including two 3 hour phone conversations with the "geniuses" in Apple tech support. I reinstalled Big Sur two times. I cleared the NVRAM, PRAM and SMC multiple times. I tried launching my Keynote files from an external hard drive. I also removed and or disabled all my extensions. I even threw out software that was barely used.
I even tried installing "App Delete" and precisely followed the instructions with no success.
It seems Apple is more concerned with developing contact tracing and moving into being Big Brother than they are at making their own productivity software work. I was having major issues with Catalina recently - Fusion360 quit working, couldn't connect to my Makerbot, all sorts of issues that just "happened" and so I updated to Big Sur. Now I can't get a presentation done for clients, Adobe software runs horribly...
But Fusion and my Makerbot work most the time now..
Pages has the same problem :(
Why did this work using the USB, instead of the Hard Drive?
Resetting Keynote according to these steps didn't help.
Keynote keeps crashing when opening.
Please advise!
Thanks Gary Scotland, after almost 3 hours on the phone to Apple, with them unable to fix. Your resetting instructions worked!
Try to move your files to USB drive and see if this works. Mine is working...
