‘Face Recognition in Apple Photos - Changes of Name. Maiden name to Married name - best approach?

In Photos/People I have two names for each of my daughters - one with their maiden names, plus a newer one with their married names. So, going by their names, they each may appear to be different persons if one didn’t know better.

Have I done the right thing? Will this confuse face recognition in Photos? Have I messed things up face recognition wise?

I’m wondering now if it would have been better to have simply changed to their new names and not have a separate entry for that, or simply left them alone with their maiden names.

How does anyone else approach this problem?

It will depend on how you are using the People album. If you want to use Siri to find the photos of your daughters and understand command like "Show me photos of my children", the name of the People album should match the name on the Contacts card for your daughters. Then you should use the name from the current contact card and merge the two People albums with the married name and the maiden name into one. It will make it easier to create smart albums based on their People album as well.

Otherwise it does not hurt to have more than one album for each person. It might even improve the face recognition if the photos of the toddlers are in a different album from the grown up photos.
