software conflicts.

I have Mac 10.13.6 installed and I recently downloaded Microsoft office from a work server. since then, Safari keeps stopping, it doesn't load webpages and I get messages like 'the connection to the server failed or was dropped'. Mail in Outlook appears to be affected as well in that mail does not send automatically when the send button is pressed and I have to go to outbox and press send maybe a half dozen times to get the mail to send. Downloading files is now a nightmare, I cannot download security or application updates because of this problem.

do I delete Microsoft office and buy my own version (which is a tad expensive) or is there some other conflict that others have had? I have tried isolating my office software suite by turning off the Microsoft auto-updater but the problem persists. I am sure this is a software problem as I appear to have a good internet connection.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

regards,

Curtis

Hey Curtis,

We understand after installing Microsoft Office, you are experiencing issues with Safari, the Mail app, and downloading/update apps. We will do our best to assist.

If the Mac is connected to Wi-Fi and there is another one you can test, try that. If issue doesn't happen using the different Wi-Fi network, you may want to contact your internet service provider.

If you do not have another Wi-Fi network to test or it doesn't resolve the issue, test in safe mode: How to use safe mode on your Mac If issue doesn't appear in safe mode, restart normally and verify issue is resolved. If it does happen in safe mode, follow the section in the link labeled "If this issue continues in safe mode".

Best regards.

Sort of a modern day Cassidy & Greene...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

Whew, they've changed pastebin & made it harder, but after pasting in, click Create new paste button, then Embed button, then copy the URL...

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck. In a Reply before you click post, look for this to add longer texts...
