I was looking into getting a cheap iPad, and the cheapest I could find was the apple iPad Air 1st gen from 2013, and I wanted to know which Apple Pencil works with it.
I already looked this up a lot, but all I got was the 4th gen, so I’m just curious.

No Apple Pencils work with any iPads made before late 2015.
6, 7, 8 and 9-year old iPads cannot use any version of an Apple Pencil.
There are NO good alternative third party stylii that work like an Apple Pencil anymore, either!
You want to use an Apple Pencil with an iPad, you need to look at more expensive, much “newer”, used iPad models.
All older 2015-2017 10.5/12.9 inch screen iPad Pro models use the 1st gen Apple Pencil.
The 2016, 9.7 inch screen iPad Pro and the 2018, 9.7 inch screen 6th gen iPad use the 1st gen Apple Pencil.
The 2019 and 2020 7th and 8th gen 10.2 inch screen iPads both use the 1st gen Apple Pencil.
Look to Amazon for older iPad models.
Many are refurbished and heavily discounted.
With older iPads purchased on Amazon, consider the purchase of a third party warranty, in case of accidental damage.
