I have just upgraded to Big Sur and now see that the "info overlay" in the develop module is white instead of transparent. Has anyone else seen this problem. Is it time to ditch Lightroom 5? thanks

Adobe shows Big Sur Intel support with the LR CC October 2020 v4 release. You can check with Adobe, but as far as I can tell, they do not show support for LR 5.7.1 and Big Sur.
Adobe is not saying that LR 5 is supported on Catalina or Big Sur as far as I can tell. We are in agreement on subscription-ware.
GIMP for macOS is stuck on version 2.10.14, even though version 2.10.22 is available for other platforms. I gave up on them, and now use the non-subscription, and Mac App Store purchased Affinity Designer and Photo. There are free trials of both on the Affinity site in case you want to compare supported software to the apparently abandoned GIMP.
Although I suggest Affinity products here from time to time, I receive no financial, or other benefits from this vendor for mentioning their products.
This overlay is the only problem I saw. Of course you can disable the overlay but there is a little patch of white in the corner. Personally I saw this as the harbinger of the final days for LR 5. It may work until the next OS update or upgrade but then what. So I've stopped using it. I don't use brushes anymore so I hope that Photos will be sufficient for my purposes, with maybe some help from GIMP. I tried OnOne once but it was always crashing so I don't know what 3rd party software to use. And these days everything seems to be subscription service >:-(
I think about upgrading from Catalina to Big Sur. Under Catalina LR 5.7.1 still works perfectly on my Macbook Pro 2017. My question is: Besides the info overlay issue, do you have any other issues with LR or does it run smoothly under Big Sur?
Yes, I have noticed the same problem. Also if I cut a photo and confirm it doesn't sync the action until I do another one, for example, I move a cursor. It is really annoying and makes work uncomfortable.
I have read that the Big Sur update should be compatible up to lightroom 4.0. I don't know...
