Big Sur Screen fonts are terrible

Upgraded to Big Sur. I had been running the beta and didn't notice the problem then. But in the release version, screen fonts are terrible in Big Sur! Much worse than Catalina. As just one example, white text on green background in iMessages is very hard on the eyes! This is not just a disagreement on Big Sur vs. Catalina style. Please fix this!

Apple, when you tout "Big Sur as the World's Most Advanced OS" (several times in the screens before creating a post) but then the screen fonts look terrible, you just make yourselves look ridiculous. Wouldn't the "world's most advanced OS" be able to get screen fonts right?

Change the text font and size in Messages preferences and you'll get a more readable message:

Also, using Dark Mode with Increase Contrast and Reduce Transparency enabled greatly improves readability throughout.

Apple wont get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive from its users, the more likely they will know what needs to be fixed, and what their customers prefer in updates, and future macOS versions to come.

I must say that I find systems fonts far too small. I tried increasing menu size, I cannot spot the difference. The bookmarks on safari are too small. For me this is a real problem, not sure I can really use this if not fixed. I have sent feedback but that is not satisfying.

I hold heartedly agree. It also hurts to find that I'm no longer the target audience.

I've decreased the screen resolution by one notch in the System/Display preference pane as well as the transparency and contrast options I've previously mentioned.

I'm really flabbergasted at Apple. I made the mistake of updating my OS and now suddenly it is unusable. The update totally erased my custom OS, my scripts, SSH and I can't even sudo in to root account. This is agonizing, I am going to have to spend all day rebuilding my system.

Apple just isn't worth it anymore, and it keeps getting worse with every update.

How to change font size and background color on Big Sur Mail sidebar for boxes and files? Small grey type on a grey background is very hard to decipher.
