I have a MacBook Pro 2016 model running Big Sur.
I'm trying to connect my HP F4235 All-In-One printer/scanner to it and its recognizes its connection, but I can't find the drivers for it. I even download this package (https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888)
Once I double click the pkg file to install the drivers I get the error message "This volume does not meet the requirements for this update." Is there any way to fix this and make things work again?

This is a workaround
You can now add this printer as normal, just choose the shared printer from the list, it should just show up on its own and the click the add button. Some formal steps: https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/share-your-printer-on-mac-mchlp2424/mac
By sharing the printer I was able to get access to the printer's features, the magically become available because Mac mini exposes them to the Big Sur computer.
I realize that this is not ideal but the Mac mini is on 24/7 because it acts as an FTP server so in my case it's not a problem but for others it might not be the ideal workaround.

HP's own site is unhelpful. This is the only helpful response that I found on any site regarding HP printer drivers that were broken on macOS recently.

Remove jobs in the printer queue.
Remove the printer from the list
>Printer and Scanner
add it back in, reboot if necessary.

I have run that HP Uninstall process as well. Once I run the program to uninstall all HP files, I re-run the 5.1 pkg and it gives me the volume error again. Also, when I search the HP site for my drivers (Deskjet F4200 All in one series) it refers me to the 5.1 pkg file. I'm in a circle of errors.
Not running Big Sur. I always wait until at least the xx.1 version before adopting.
what is supposed to happen is you go to create a new Print queue, and MacOS notices there is no Driver and goes out and gets the Driver download and offers you the correct driver.

If this is a "smart" printer, you may be able to use Generic postscript driver. Even some "dumb" printers can use the (limited) "AirPrint" driver, but you get no options with that.
That is why you are able to install it. You’re not running Big Sur.
I was able to install it on previous versions of macOS but have been unable to (like the other posters here) on Big Sur. The installer simply won’t proceed.

Thanks for chiming in but I have about 60GB, maybe a little less on the MacBook Air. The issue is with Big Sur not earlier version.
I am sure that I am not alone when I say this. The affected printer drivers worked before the Big Sur upgrade. They stopped working as a result of Big Sur, I think Apple (I have no actual evidence) has double down on security and/or parts of the installer are not compatible with Big Sur.
As it was, the first time I chose to Print I immediately confronted a Mac OS security message (something about a Postcript and a PDF issue) and was guided to an HP webpage to download an uninstaller. After uninstalling, I found that trying to add a printer would bring up another security message, something related to FAX. The file was located where the printer drives use to be, it looks like the uninstaller did not remove everything.

I will try safe boot and a new user account but not today. I will report back but I do doubt there will be a solution. I think it really is Big Sur being hardcore about security and enforcing it with no recourse.

Read in full though, there are corrections made in the middle of the article.
When I download that file and try to open it, I get a message "HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers.pkg can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software." Did you disable Gatekeeper?
Also, on my printer's product page on HP.com, there is an HP Easy Start app for Big Sur. It finds my printer, but it says there is no software available for it. I guess it doesn't yet have a driver for Big Sur.
My printer is the LaserJet Pro P1102w.
I opened System Preferences > Security & Privacy and allowed the installation package to run. I did try HP Easy Start. It found my wifi printer but was not able to find the driver for it. I think the only way now is to run the installation package to install the driver.
Hello, I am having trouble with HP Photosmart D7160 printer after Big Sur update. Printer worked flawlessly before the update. I uninstalled and then tried to reinstall new drivers using HP EasyStart. No luck - said to go to HP site. HP site says drivers for MacOS 11.0.1 not available. Uggghhhhhhhhh. I just need my printer to work. I am not computer savvy - so would appreciate any help in resolving this issue. Thanks in advance.
