that’s not true. mine cracked without being dropped
If you feel that is the case, make an appointment to have your phone examined by Apple.
They are trained to be able to tell the difference between a stress crack or manufacturing defect and damage due to impact, and stress cracks or defects do occasionally occur as they do with any other product that uses glass.
Apple developed a faulty product with the glass back. Besides easily breaking, it is dangerous as chards of glass scratch me when taken off my Otterbox.

I take your point.
But you suspect it has a weak point because it broke.
Same as people say they have soft glass because they scratched it.
But I do agree that iphone 7 is the ideal construction and it is still my main phone.
No - it based on the fact the back of my phone cracked and it shouldn’t have... I am not asking for anyone to pay for it just making people aware there is a problem with this phone.
Are you paid by Apple... response time has been seconds ... amazing? Why are you defending Apple ... this is good info for the consumer to have before paying for iPhone 12 max. To be clear - all other iPhones were great and never had a problem with them.
I never post reviews because of comments like the above - nor do I have the time - like most people who use Apple phones. I think you will see a lot more of these issue P Watts.
My issue is the front glass. I have had my iPhone 12 for 3 days and the front glass has already cracked. There is no point of impact, it has not been dropped or anything. Greatly disappointed in the quality of this for having spent $879. No other iPhone I have ever had had this issue.
Why are there a bunch of high level apple simps replying to this thread like "oh well should of put your phone down on the table gentler". People are rightfully ****** their piece of $1000 equipment they have had for a week is already cracked because apple insisted their new phones had to have a different way to break. The 12 should of been advertised as having the weakest back glass to date.
That is very wise when buying expensive hand held gear.
You should always purchase the product you think will best meet your needs. If you think it matters to any of us users on this user to user only forum however, you would be wrong.
You must have a really low to the ground car and you are very short. And fall to concrete can crack the case depending on the angle of input. The glass on the back of the 12 is stronger than anything they have previously used and there are several YouTube channels that have tested this. But it is glass and it will break if the right conditions are met. Until someone invents transparent aluminum that is going to happen.
It probably broke when you sat in the car with it in your pocket.
A huge percentage of busted phones, starting with bending the 6, were caused by sitting down or bending down with it in a jeans pocket.
Haven’t had my iPhone 12 Pro Max a week! Took the case off to disinfect my phone and the back glass was shattered don’t even know how it happened! I can’t believe Apple would make such a flimsy piece of crap! oh I am beyond disappointed I have never had this happen with any of my other iPhones! I have AppleCare the lady at AppleCare said I had to give her $1000 retainer to fix my phone oh I’m sorry replace my phone I already gave you $1000 a week ago this is beyond unfair can’t believe this seriously thinking about never buying an iPhone again! Shame on you Apple! We are loyal customers who pay top dollar for your product and you give us inferior crap and won’t fix it!
Yall really wanna hear something crazy ? On a cool morning in mississippi you dont need to leave your phone on the dash of the car while its running and defroster is going because she will crack ! Have been a samsung user for 10 years finally listen to my wife and make the switch last month. Keep in mind i have replaced 1 screen in 10 years in a note 3 way back in 2014 and that was due to my own negligence. But really come on I have been using this same routine for years plugging my phone up when i get in the truck to my aux and letting it warm up before i go back outside to leave. I will replace the back glass out of my own pocket and i swear me, my wife and my 3 kids nor my company will never use a Apple product again.. If they cant take responsibility for their own faults I need not stand by them when they are clearly in the wrong. God bless you all and good luck.
i have the same issue / I found the back of my iPhone 12 Pro Max cracked after 1 month of buying it , such a disappointment. The v had an iPhone X for almost 3 years and it’s still in tip top shape . Such a shame that such an expensive state of the art phone is so fragile !
I have my 12 pro max since release.
I have dropped like 10 times. It is perfectly fine without a single scratch
I use the leather case on it.... I cannot understand how a glass can crack without none hit it somehow.
I had this issue as well. I got the iPhone 12 pro Max as a Christmas gift and have been very careful about not dropping it. I was shocked when I took it out of my back and the entire back of the phone is shattered.
That's your opinion.
Tests have shown it is stronger, but in the end, it's still glass.
If you can find a phone whose glass magically won't break if dropped in just the right way, feel free to buy it and to let Corning know they should shut down their research labs.
Do people actually read through complaint message boards that aren’t paid to do so? Unlikely. And if they aren’t paid... wow.
I won’t find a magical phone, but I will find a way cheaper in price phone and get the same result. Ouch.
And, I suppose Corning could stop R&D since Apple used the same glass as last year.
