Has anyone had issues with the rear glass cracking mine broke very easily by placing the iPhone 12 pro and iPhone 12 pro Max back to back to check sizes.

If you feel that is the case, make an appointment to have your phone examined by Apple.
They are trained to be able to tell the difference between a stress crack or manufacturing defect and damage due to impact, and stress cracks or defects do occasionally occur as they do with any other product that uses glass.

I checked our UK prices and iphone 12 maximum repair is 53% of new price.
So you've managed to smash three 12 Pro Maxes?
If so, perhaps a better case is in order.
What case? Many offer no drop protection whatsoever.
It's not "standard grade" glass but it was never promised to be any stronger than on past iPhones.
It doesn't crack easily, in fact it's quite robust.
Premium smart phones like the iPhone, Galaxy and others will likely have glass backs in the future as it makes wireless (Qi) charging possible.
I agree that there is a design flaw. My phone, too, was in its case and never dropped.
I have had several iPhones and never broke a glass or camera and my iPhone 12 Pro Max is shattered. I-am so disappointed in this STRONGER GLASS represented as better.
Read the terms. To get it for $29 you have to sign up for Applecare+ on or after Sept 14 2021. The price for your phone will not change so you were not one week before the price change for you.
Well they should have also made the back with ceramic shield.
The front screen which is ceramic shield can and does crack as well. Glass is glass. If dropped in an unfortunate way, glass can and does crack.
if I were you I would sell it right now! If something happens and stops working the warranty will be denied!
A common way is to apply stress, like putting it in your back pocket and leaning against something or sitting with it there.
I’ve had every generation of iPhone. I’ve never had an issue like this before owning a 12.
Phone has always been in a case and was not dropped. Only normal use.
