that’s not true. mine cracked without being dropped
If you feel that is the case, make an appointment to have your phone examined by Apple.
They are trained to be able to tell the difference between a stress crack or manufacturing defect and damage due to impact, and stress cracks or defects do occasionally occur as they do with any other product that uses glass.
Irrespective of adverts you are carrying one, two, three week’s salary in your hand most of the day and it is made of glass. Also AppleCare+ will replace my battery if it goes below 80% in 2 years (guaranteed if I carry on with the forum several hours a day). So that’s half the cost.
So sorry apple care is not available to you!!!Before I even got my new iPhone 12mini I had glass screen protector and a double layered case!!!They are nice way to express yourself sometimes ! I put them on in the store!!!!The Philippines are lovely!!!Good luck!!
Manufacturing defect? I have new Iphone 12 pro max with new apple clear case, look at it from side, back of phone is full of cracks!!! Phone works, has been, my daughter noticed it took the case off, sure enough, all cracked, but still smooth.
What's up with that? Is there a recall? Solution? Thank you.
That seems to be a fair question that Apple should answer at some point. I just don’t believe you will get an answer other than Apple classifying it as “other damage” and telling you to pay if you want it fixed.
The volunteers that participate on this site are Apple product users just like you. They do so of their own volition, but the vast majority of its participants want nothing more than to help solve problems simply because they enjoy it. No monetary gain or other incentives are permitted
Of course, I certainly understand LD150. Don’t be too defensive. I was just kidding. Haha.
Do you also work for Apple? I’m just kidding as well. Haha. Cheers!
I don’t know how old you are, but I admired Apple since Jobs & Woz started it in the mid-70s. In fact, I had Apple II, Macintosh 1st Gen, iPod 1st Gen, and iPhone 1st Gen.
I continued purchasing the next generation Apple products over the years. Several iPhone 12 Pro Max are my newest purchase. I’m also planning to upgrade my old MacBook Pro, iMac Pro, Mac Pro, and iPad Pro this year.
Thus, I really love Apple products & services, including its AAPL. I’ll continue to buy its AppleCare+, too.
Thanks for volunteering. Au revoir!
I remembered that year when IBM introduced its PC. Yeah, I worked on IBM mainframes, too; it was part of the Jurassic period, in my opinion. I retired early many years ago, but I was too young when I did. So I came out of retirement, not to pursue financial gain, but simply due to boredom. Cheers!
youre just being obtuse. clearly theres an issue, considering the posts itt.
those other phones also didnt have glass ON THE BACK. whats even the point of that? even in the event you do crack it, why on earth does it require a replacement phone? why is it infinitely more difficult to replace than the main screen glass? that in itself is bad design
I see that one of your specialties is the iPad…I would like to ask your input as I would like to get one soon.Anything at all that you think would be instructive in choosing would be greatly appreciated.I would have started a new discussion but find your direction and knowledge to be what I need if you would please???Thx and again I would appreciate any input!!!
I heard that rumor. Do you have a link to the story?
Did they say if it is at a lower price than that quoted for “other damage”?
it may be saving Apple money to swap out the back plus its glued/on components and using the owner’s screen and battery but if the price is still $449 it isn’t necessarily good news for the owner.
Just a note, if you respond to yourself no one knows who you are referring to so either reply to that person who include their alias in your post. Be aware that just because a device appears in someones post that really does not mean they are an expert in that field, it may be just because they posted in that area once.
If you are referring to LD150 he has an iPhone in his post. If you need answers regarding purchasing an iPad go to the iPhone forum and post your question there with as much detail as possible.

I saw it on Mac Rumors and my thought as well about it saving Apple money. They did not go into the pricing info that I could see but probably the same as it seems the glass is not the only thing involved from what I can gather. I also sent you an iPad ??? and you rock even
more to me for your connection to IBM.Early in my career I was taken in by the IBM team and to this day we stay in touch…they never forgot about me when my injury ended that part of my life…what a great group of friends that taught me so much!!!I knew something about you was special!!
Thank you and I appreciate your input for sure…I need all the help I can get for sure!!!Also Thx for all the help you provide here…it means so much to us who are just learning these things !!!I would ask my 9 year old grand child who would know but how embarrassing!!😀
OK I just found it. We don’t publish links to that site!
So lets just say if true it is good for the planet but there is currently no reduced price on the Apple repair site.
The ipad query has been moved to the ipad forum by the moderator. I see you found it already
I think the suggestion was they will not waste the undamaged battery, rear camera and front screen.
I agree it could be less expensive but they would have to introduce a “back screen” price which I don’t see yet.
