that’s not true. mine cracked without being dropped

If you feel that is the case, make an appointment to have your phone examined by Apple.

They are trained to be able to tell the difference between a stress crack or manufacturing defect and damage due to impact, and stress cracks or defects do occasionally occur as they do with any other product that uses glass.

I believe Apple has received a B+ in their recycling efforts while Huawei got a D and Samsung a D~.Though admirable for sure not 100%.My background was in packaging with a specialty in printing so recycling is a conundrum for many companies.I applaud and appreciate Apple and their efforts especially using the Daisy robot for recycling many complicated components such as cobalt for instance everyone including myself can certainly strive to do better.

iPhone backup/restore for Windows users? I'm replacing my broken back glass 12 pro max, trying to restore to a refurbished phone. Not sure if I need advice or medication?

Maybe this info will help someone else...

In wrestling with iPhone restore, a current iPhone backup just now completes "successfully", yet 190 photos are not yet uploaded to my iCloud backup. Th tech at the Apple Candy Store said I was backed up properly and was ready to restore me to a repaired phone, BUT concurrently I got a message saying my iCloud Photos were not updated in 67 days. I declined.

An hour on the phone with Apple suggests the automatic iphone backup using iCloud doesn't actually backup photos, but relies on a completed sync between photos on the phone and the icloud to recover photos in a restore. It doesn't actually check to see if a sync is completed successfully before reporting a "successful" phone backup.

And, if you backup by connecting to a PC, the default option to optimize photo sizes on your phone while maintaining original size in the cloud means backing up your iphone photo directory to a computer likely leaves you with only (or mixed) reduced size images in your computer backup.

For any savvy users that backup correctly to a Windows computer (via USB/firewire), do you use iTunes, 3rd part software, etc? I've also noticed Apple limits my phone call history to only 100 entries. Is more history saved somewhere? I've also noticed files copied manually (mp3,4,etc) to my iPhone don't get backed up either (lost in a restore) - I'm guessing since they're not played using Apple software.

Very disappointed with Apple customer service.

I’m one that has owned almost every generation of iPhones since the beginning.

they have always accommodated awkward damage or issues I may of had.

However with the most Fragile and Expensive iPhone 12 ever to be sold by Apple, they can’t come up with a better more affordable way to take care of their loyal customers when the rear of an iPhone breaks. And it breaks easily as these forums and others can attest to.

My own and others in my business have broken as well from simple falls or incidents with Apple cases on them to boot..

Can’t be at a cost of half the phone to repair though Apple. Please put the greed aside and help your loyal customers.

thank you for listening…

Nailed it ^

I might also add the right to repair issue (in the United States of America)... Seems Apple isn’t making it easier even for Apple to repair Apple’s devices. If it’s harder to repair or replace for anyone and it turns out a major design flaw could be at play, then that’s a pretty big issue for Apple down the road. Record sales will also beget record iPhones experiencing this issue.

Yes!!! i thought i was just me! I have the iphone 12 pro max and this is the second time my screen has shattered on the back with an apple case on it both times. i took it to apple the first time and got my whole phone replaced for $700. then about a month later my back glass broke again with an apple case on it but it was a brand new phone. so it wasn’t like they fixed the glass then it broke again i had to replace it with a whole new phone and i’m just very frustrated that i’ve spent over 2k on a phone in less then 3 months span for this to happen twice.

In the end it is still a phone that is meant to be carried on person. If you claim to make a phone meant to be the most durable, then maybe it shouldn’t be made of glass on both sides just to incorporate a new technology. I’ve owned previous iPhones with back glass and never had this problem.

It’s a hard pill to swallow JCSut10. I’ve had a lot of iPhones and won’t be buying another as well. Good news is other companies have finally caught up to Apple on the software front and their phones are a lot less expensive, so having one break is way less worrisome. Hardest part is, I have been with Apple before they became fashionable.

I purchased an Apple i phone 12 pro on 02-22-2021. Also enclosed in Otter box yet the rear glass is cracked and Verizon want me to pay $229.00 to repair. As I said to them there are more than one phone company and to Apple this will be my last purchase of an Apple product as your quality has slipped and customer service sucks.
