that’s not true. mine cracked without being dropped
If you feel that is the case, make an appointment to have your phone examined by Apple.
They are trained to be able to tell the difference between a stress crack or manufacturing defect and damage due to impact, and stress cracks or defects do occasionally occur as they do with any other product that uses glass.
FWIW there is new wording in that KB added in the last months:
"If the issue with your iPhone was caused by certain damage (such as severe damage not covered by the Apple warranty or AppleCare+), you might have to pay the full replacement value."
No problem with front screen on any of my iPhones.
If I break the front I take responsibility and pay for repair. Everyone should.
I really don’t understand using glass on the back and expect durability, especially a $700 repair.
do you think that’s logical?
try inserting your glass iPhone into a Rokform case or others without something flexing and cracking…especially thin glass.
Wrong is wrong! “I feel” let down by a brand I’ve supported and admired for years.
I do not use wireless charging.
Ive had my iPhone in a Rokform rugged case since day 1.
do you think a glass rear case is durable?
do you think only a glass rr case improves wireless charging or are there other options?
Do you think paying 1/2 the original price of ANY product to replace a “made vulnerable” party will increase repurchase intent?
What can be done? I have NEVER experienced a broken android and this phone broke within days and I have no idea how it cracked. No kids no pets to question about handling or knocking my phone around and I did not drop it.
for clarification, this is not an impact related break. Compared to every other iPhone model I have owned, it is my experience that this back glass is unable to withstand regular daily use as well as previous models I have owned.
I’m looking for support from people who have anything constructive to offer regarding resolving an issue of reduced quality product.
I completely understand what you are suggesting, however it does not apply to my situation
I’ve seen videos of third-party testers attempting to bend and break these models. They can withstand an insane amount of pressure with no damage. Which makes me think that, since most of these phones hold up just fine, why is it that a small percentage seem to be breaking too easily?
My iphone 12 pro max se le rompió el cristal trasero teniendo un cover de goma fuerte y la altura de caida fue de 3 pies.ese cristal es echo a propósito?
The only way it could have cracked was if it was dropped.
Without insurance or Applecare+ you will be VERY lucky to get a free or low cost replacement.
Denim jeans pockets, floor drops and water can do catastrophic damage to phones.
i didn’t drop phone! It had the new MagSafe case in it. The case was totally fine but the back glass we shattered. The phone was in my computer bag that didn’t move.
Nothing Apple can do.
Why? They can always do something if this seems like a common problem ... we shall wait and see.
It'll be a long wait.
I certainly agree with you on that point
Evidence of your claim that this is affecting a lot of people is presumably based on the 167 me-toos and a 2 page thread.
40 million sales might say it is a minor problem.
