How do I stop having to log in every time my Mac goes to sleep?

I recently changed my login password on my iMac, but since then I have to login each time after my Mac goes to sleep mode. How can I stop that from happening? I'm running Catalina (10.15.7) on a late-2013 27" iMac.

iMac 27″, macOS 10.15

System Preferences : Security & Privacy : General [ ] Require password [ ] after sleep or screen saver begins.

I am using Catalina 15.10.7 and this issue started after I changed my password.

I can't change the security settings - the requirement for password remains "immediately". And yes I am the administrator and I did unlock to make changes. I created a new user as suggested by one webpage but then I couldn't access my files but could change the time requirement for password. Any help would be appreciated.
