AirPods Automatic Ear detection settings ON for iPhone, OFF for MacBook

I love the Automatic Air Detection setting for my iPhone, but when I am on my MacBook it becomes annoying as I don't keep the AirPods in all the time, but rather plus them in and out. Or take them out if someone takes to me.

Is there a way to have the setting ON for when the pods are connected to the iPhone, and OFF for when they are connected to the MacBook. I understand I can change it each time I use the device, but that kind of defeats the purpose.

When I chance the Macbook Auto Ear Det. to OFF...ot seems to also set the iPhone Auto Ear det to OFF, How can I get around this?

Thank you,

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.0
