Lexmark Laser Printers not working with Big Sur OSX 11

Lexmark's site shows NO OSX11 Big Sur support. All my B&W laser printers are unusable. Anyone know when / if Lexmark and Apple (as apple distributes the driver via Software update) is addressing this?

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup).

Any devices that previously appeared in your Printer List and Fax List will need to be added again after resetting the printing system.

Resetting the printing system in Mac OS X

  1. To use the Reset Printing System feature in Mac OS X, follow these steps:
  2. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
  3. Choose Print & Fax from the View menu.
  4. Control-click on list of printers on the left side of the window, then choose "Reset printing system" from the contextual menu. If you don't see a list of printers, Control-click on the text "Click + to add a printer or fax" and select "Reset printing system..."
  5. As an alternative, if you currently have one or more printers listed, you can Option-click the "-" (Remove printer) button.

I found this link 8284346 and tried with Lexmark instead of Epson and it worked. Hope it works for you.

If you still have a problem persists try the following:

  1. Power off your product.
  2. Open System Preferences and select Print & Fax.
  3. Highlight the Epson printer and click on the "-" sign to delete the printer.
  4. Click Delete Printer to confirm and close Print & Fax.
  5. On your hard drive, select Library > Printers. Delete the EPSON folder.
  6. On your hard drive, select Library > Printers> PPD > Contents > Resources. Delete Epson Printer Name.gz
  7. On your hard drive, select Library > Cache and delete the Epson folder.
  8. Close the hard drive.
  9. Restart your computer and power on the printer.
  10. Go to https://www.lexmark.com/en_us/support/download-search.html
  11. Search for your product or select it from the list.
  12. Select Downloads.
  13. Choose the printer or scanner driver for your system and click Download Now.
  14. Once the download has completed, click on the file from your desktop to launch the installer.
  15. Follow the directions to complete the installation.
  16. Try Printing again. A

Same error following running through this. The next though was to pull down a standard CUPs driver. I talked to Lexmark Support, and due to layoffs and COVID (good grief), they have not had time to update their website (it says the new OS is Catalina), and can offer no date or assurance that new drivers are coming. The support analyst could not confirm if a new Lexmark printer would work, recommended we buy 9 new printers and if they don't work, send them back.

This makes no sense.
