Sort by dropdown in Mail
Is the Sort By dropdown in Mail gone in Big Sur? I see it in the View menu but can only see Filter in the main view.

You are correct.
Here's what I see in Catalina:
But that pop-up is gone with Big Sur and I can't find any way to add it back.
Looks like the View > Sort By menu is it for sorting.
Of course, if you know the user's name you could "Filter" the Inbox with a search in the Search field.

Howdy,
It sounds like you are viewing your mail with Column View. If so you can click on a column heading to sort by that column.
Note there is a "v" or "^" at the right of the column heading showing the direction of the sort for that column. Clicking on the column heading again reverses the sort.

Thank you, but I'm not using Column View. Mail used to have the option to choose Attachments, Date, Flag, From, Size, Subject, To, Unread from the main view screen (with Column View unselected). Now it has a Filter option that defaults to Unread but can be altered to an extent; however, I have to go to the View menu, then choose From (for example) to search my inbox for emails from a particular sender.
Thank you
